TAXRESIDENCE
The UAE does not levy personal income tax, which is one reason many people move here. But a residence visa alone does not make you a tax resident, and it does not end your tax obligations in your previous country.

Milton Bridge helps individuals and companies become UAE tax residents in a lawful, documented way and apply for a Tax Residency Certificate, which can be used to claim benefits under the UAE's double tax agreements.
What UAE tax residence means
UAE tax residence is determined under UAE rules, generally based on factors such as time spent in the UAE, your permanent place of residence and the centre of your financial and personal interests. Having a visa is not, by itself, enough.
For companies, tax residence generally follows incorporation in the UAE or effective management and control there.
Tax Residency Certificate
A Tax Residency Certificate is an official document issued by the UAE tax authority confirming that a person or company is a UAE tax resident for a given period. It is typically used to apply double tax agreements and to show residence to banks or foreign tax authorities.
- Available for individuals and companies that meet the criteria.
- Requires supporting documents, such as proof of residence and, for individuals, time spent in the UAE.
- Issued for a specific period and renewed as needed.
Your previous country still matters
Becoming a UAE tax resident does not automatically end tax residence elsewhere. Many countries have their own exit rules, tests and reporting duties. We strongly recommend getting advice in your home country, and we coordinate with your adviser.
Corporate tax for your company
There is no personal income tax in the UAE, but companies may be subject to federal corporate tax, introduced in 2023 — generally 9% above a threshold, with qualifying free zone income possibly taxed at 0%. The outcome depends on your company's structure and income.
